Queensland summers are hard on outdoor timber. UV, heat, and afternoon storms will strip an unprotected deck fast and re-coating over cracked or peeling timber means extra prep work down the track.
Decking and Timber
If your deck is sound structurally but the finish is worn, a clean and re-coat is usually enough. Strip back any flaking finish with a timber cleaner, let it dry properly, then apply a quality penetrating oil or stain. We stock Intergrain and Solagard in store our paint team can advise on which product suits your timber species and existing finish.
If you’re replacing boards or building new, our timber yard has hardwood and composite decking in stock. We cut to length on the spot.
Fixings
Outdoor timber fixings need to be either stainless 316 or hot-dipped galvanised. A coastal or shaded deck especially. If you’re not sure what you’ve got now, bring in a sample and our fastener counter can tell you.
